It's Mothering Sunday today in the UK.
If you’ve lost a child, lost a mother, or are yearning to be a mother, or like me, a mum to a furry family. I’m thinking of you today - Happy Mothers day ❤️
Happy Mother's day to my wonderful mum! Here is a picture of us on my wedding day in 2009.
We got married in Mauritius and my mum, my brother and Phil's sister joined us for our special day and a trip to remember.
Unfortunately this year I can't be with my Mum. We live 130 miles apart, my Mum lives in Brackley in Northamptonshire and I live in Bridgwater in Somerset.
It won't be too long until I see my Mum though. I am really looking forward to spending time with my mum and my brother in Cornwall in a couple months. We've booked a lovely lodge overlooking a lake and it has a hot tub so we can relax after a day exploring the beautiful west country.
Phil and I went to the same resort last year. This year we've booked a bigger lodge so our family can join us. We adore Cornwall and have visited frequently since we haven't been able to travel abroad. We are fortunate to only live 1 1/2 hours away.
I've created my cards using the Welcoming Window stamp set, Window Flower Box dies and Heart and Home DSP from Stampin' Up!
I've the same layout for a mothers day card and a birthday card. When you spend more time than usual designing a card, it's nice to get several versions created and added to your stash of cards ready to go. I really enjoyed stamping and die cutting the pieces for this one so it really wasn't a chore.
Both cards are almost identical - but I did use different colours for the layer. One has a Highland Heather and the other has Pool Party. Both favourite colours of mine.
It was really fun die cutting all the elements using the Window Flower Box dies. I might have die cut way more than I needed!
The window, the shutter doors and shelf were all die cut from Basic White cardstock and have this fantastic woodgrain detail. I've die cut the shutter door hinges from Silver Foil.
Behind the window pane is a piece of Vellum cardstock which I've given a light wash with Wink of Stella glitter to give it a shiny look to simulate glass.
I've used various foam dimensionals and strips to attach the window the card so it wasn't flat.
The plant pots have been stamped and die cut. I've used Evening Evergreen for the mothers day card and Pool Party for the birthday card. The shading detail on the plant pot stamps is superb and it makes them look three dimensional.
For the leaves and flowers there are two separate stamps - you stamp the leaves in one colour - I've used Soft Succulent - and the flowers in another colour - Highland Heather.
I used the A Wish for Everything stamp set for the sentiments. I hand stamped the chosen words in Highland Heather and cut out by hand.
To finish the card I've added a single Brushed Brass Butterflies to the plant pot.
I also stamped the inside but as usual I totally forgot to take a picture.
Did you know the Welcoming Window stamp set, Window Flower Box dies and A Wish for Everything stamp set are retiring from the Stampin' Up! catalogue and are only available until stocks last or until 2nd May 2022.
If you like any of these sets I would encourage you to place an order before they sell out.
