Did you know the Stampin' Up! mini catalogue has been released a month earlier than usual?
Last year Stampin' Up! decided to change the catalogue sales periods so the Mini Catalogue (formally known as Autumn / Winter) now goes live in August (instead of September).
Okay, so it may be a bit early for some of you to be thinking about Christmas.... but you could also look at it like this - you get an extra month to get ahead with your Christmas crafting!
Let's aim to make December stress free and chilled by getting all our Christmas prep done early!
So make yourself a drink, grab some snacks and have a browse of the Stampin' Up! Mini Catalogue - simply click on the catalogue to open the PDF!
I don't think I've EVER made a Christmas card so early before! It's all because my pre-order from the mini catalogue arrived on Monday.
Check out the pictures of my pre order on my Facebook page and don't forget to like my page while you are there!
It's been a while since I last used my Stampin' Blends so I decided to use the Coming Home stamp set and Home Together dies - did you know you can buy the stamp set and dies as a 'bundle' and get 10% off?
I stamped all of the different of houses, trees and car several times onto Whisper White cardstock, using Memento Black ink. I then picked up my Stampin' Blends storage trays and took everything downstairs so I could 'colour in' while watching TV in the evening!
I wanted to create a card for my entry for a colour challenge on the Pinkies Facebook page that Michelle Last has set. The challenge was to use Blushing Bride, Seaside Spray and Just Jade - plus any of the neutrals.
I started off by using Whisper White Thick cardstock for the base. I took my sponge dauber and applied Seaside Spray very lightly to the centre of my card, masking off a horizontal line where the house would sit.
Now I have to confess, I don't own Just Jade ink, nor the blends and I only have scraps of the cardstock left over.
So I had to get a bit creative!
So I used my Stampin' Write markers!
I started by colouring in the tree with the brush end - BUT I didn't like it!!
The markers are really useful for applying ink to stamps - but they are not Stampin' Blends. The colour of the trees just didn't look smooth at all.
So, I came up with this - hand drawn lines using the opposite end of the marker.
It's funny how things come about as I actually love this look and the colour is perfect!
There isn't a Blushing Bride Stampin' Blend (I'm pretty sure I've moaned about this before!) so it was either watercolouring or think outside of the box!
I thought the house would look really cute in DSP so I picked the pattern I liked from the Subtles DSP and stamped a house onto it.
With a bit of fussy cutting, I combined elements of the house in DSP and the house which I'd stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.
I used my Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to colour in the roof, and the Seaside Spray Stampin' Blends to colour in the chimney.
To make the house image pop, I used my Black Stampin' Write Marker around the outline and windows.
Using a few dimensionals, I placed the house and trees onto the card. I added three Frosted Epoxy embellishments and used the Wrapped in Christmas stamp set to stamp the sentiment....
'It's the most wonderful time of the year'
....the only problem is, I am now singing Christmas songs in August!
